Sports is one thing that people take for leisure and others take for competition. Either way, each of the person doing sports benefits either directly or indirectly. If you are taking sports for leisure for instance, you relax a lot physically, you clear your mind off and you have a lot of fun at the same time. This is a great reward in itself. Also, you keep fit which is a great health benefit as well because you get to burn all the excess calories that you have in your body. If you are taking sports for competitions on the other hand, you benefit in all the above and also you benefit financially because those who win in competitions are rewarded financially. Everybody knows someone in a band and if you're like me (out and about in a midwest college town) you know LOTS of people in bands! These rocker friends just love it when I whip out my camera phone at a gig and start taking video and pictures of them in their moment of rockstar glory. All of a sudden, the lead singer's posing on a monitor, the drummer is catching sticks in the air, the guitar players are posing and even the bass player is smiling! They're kicking it up a notch or two, inspired by my camera phone!
Now I'm hardly a portrait photographer, but it doesn't matter if you can catch the right moment.
Best of all, I can now send the pictures back to my boring roommate who refused to go out to the bar (school? weeknight? what are those?) and show her what she missed. Next day, I send the pics to my rocker friends and let them relive the magic of the night, courtesy of my camera phone! |

Having a girl as a best friend can be really funny at times. My best friend knows how to make a bad day become very beautiful. This is something that she has been good at ever since we were kids. The one thing I like about her is when it comes to giving the presents for friends. Especially me, she was always creative. She always got me two presents, one was something that I really needed and the other was something to crack me up. I remember when we were ten years old, a school bully took my sneakers and she lied to my parents that he had left them at her place. What she did was that she used her allowance money to get me other sneakers and my parents never realized that I was bullied. There was this time I went through a very bad break up and I stopped grooming myself. So she got me a make up kit to tell me that I needed to get my act together when it came to grooming. |

Basketball games are just around the corner. These are the semi final games that have been long awaited by all of the NBA fans because it is the only team that has conquered all with the highest score in each board, making them the initial champions of the annual basketball games. The coach of this fabulous team says that the team players are under high pressure as they are preparing for a tougher challenge ahead, and that is why they are working with sport psychologists who are meant to help them change their mental attitude towards the tension they are experiencing right now. All the players are under this program, and the coach of the team believes that this is not only necessary but also compulsory for the sake of the success of the team. This training will help all of the NBA team players relax and concentrate on the winning only, because they already have the potential, all they need is a positive mental attitude. During competition of the game, players are nervous because they are afraid to lose. Panicking is part of people if doing something new and competing with other people. If they are alone, their minds think negative and you will find others shaking because they are not sure they will make it. If people are about to do something which will benefit others and are scared is when they need people to support them. The motivation in sport is very necessary in most games played to compete with other teams. If the players see people cheering outside the field they get encouraged because they can see people supporting them and who cares about their win. Cheering makes people to do better because of the support. When motivating people it should not be negative but positive. If motivating people negatively they end up doing bad and will get to be disappointed and lose hope. Motivation works on many people because they usually get active and want to do something more. Friends and families should not discourage people if they are about to do something beautiful. |

We set out late in the evening. It was a warm summer night. The sky was perfectly open and stars shone everywhere. We rode down to the river in my uncle's old and beat up truck. I was excited as this was my first fishing trip. He told me to use bread squished into balls as ad hoc carp fishing tackle. That proved to be a terrible disappointment. Nothing would bite. He then told me to use corn. I didn't catch anything with those either. I had no idea why enjoyed fishing. We stood along the river bank casting our bait out. Not really talking. Just watching the barges push along. I wish my Dad had taken me fishing at some point. He never had. Perhaps soon he might. His Dad took him fishing all of the time. They fished six days a week. I guess at that point. He was sick and tired of fishing. Oh well. I do look forward to fishing with him someday. |

I always wanted to do Education in the university even before I was invited officially after high school. My mum was a teacher and I wanted to take after her by all means. I was very excited for the opportunity. During our first two years, we concentrated on the teaching subjects we had chosen. It was not very hard, therefore most of us qualified to the third year. This year was mainly dealing with performance coaching. We were taught how to manage time properly and how to ensure we covered what was involved in our teaching plan. This was a bit hard but I managed to pass and to proceed to the final year. Many people remained in the third year because performance coaching was a bit hard for them. They did not know how to make realistic gals or even how to meet the goals they set, which was not a quality of a qualified teacher. I managed to finish my course in four years as it was expected and therefore I am now a qualified educationists. |
