I can only be so proud about our new porch canopy before another nagging thought tries to interrupt my reverie - our kitchen. I really want to replace the kitchen in my house. It was below standard when we moved in, and after 10 years remains less than satisfactory. It's old fashioned and outdated and the previous owners did not take much care of it. We have never had the money to renovate the whole thing, so we have only been able to replace small parts. If we had the budget, we would remove everything and put in brand new counters and cupboards, as well as new appliances and a new floor. I would go with a simple colour scheme, colours that reflect an autumnal feel. It would have a breakfast bar where the family could eat breakfast and talk. I would have a dish washer installed which is a luxury we cannot afford at the moment. It would be so nice to have a new kitchen. Furthermore, I would like a new bathroom but the kitchen is a bigger priority. |

In the Bahamas, the government mandated a program for the pest control of certain annoyances such as mosquitoes. I'd had some experience with bed bug pest control in the past, so I welcomed any extra help the government were going to give. Every three weeks or so, a truck spraying mosquito repellant, rides through the street. The ambiance or smell of the solution is strange. It seems like a natural bush mixture. I wanted to report the mosquitoe problem to The Ministry of Health, but someone already did so. I was entirely thankful for these provisions put in place. Just within the last few months, there have been fatalities reported to the government for dengue fever. I have a young son and not a day goes by that I do not consider his health and well being. With the governement workers doing their job, they protect people in the community: they lessen the chances of diseases from spreading. |

It might drive the architect and foreman insane, but a self build project is great for those people who have a very particular design in mind. When you look at the property market, you often see a number of templated house designs. That's all very well if you're not too fussy, but I come from a design background, and I've always dreamt of designing my own house, so naturally self build is for someone like myself. I've had to really battle with my architect to get these ideas onto the blueprints due to practical issues with my design, which is fair enough. I'm not a technician after all, and do expect to make compromises on your initial design. I've learnt to accept this because at the end of the day, the execution of the job will be better if everyone's "sold" on the design and it makes sense to all those involved. |

I live in a rural area full of all kinds of insects and bugs. I keep the flies out with some fly screens for doors, but there's another pest that's harder to control. My yard was invaded by red squirrels. Fox squirrels, gray squirrels and black squirrels regularly share my bird feeders with no problem. Red squirrels are destructive. Besides tearing up my bird feeders, they gnawed into my storage shed. My wife and I discussed getting rid of them. Poison was out because my neighbor has cats who come into my yard to hunt mice and birds. Traps were out for the same reason. The battle came to a head when my wife saw three red squirrels attack and kill a hairy woodpecker. She went out and bought a large rat trap and told me, “Bait this with peanut butter and put it in the shed.” I doubted that it would work, but did it anyway. Next day I went to the shed and found a red squirrel in the trap. Every day for five days, I trapped another red squirrel, then the problem was solved. When I told my neighbor about the experience, he went out and bought four traps – two for his shed and two for his garage – and in just a few days, his red squirrel problem was solved too, without any harm to his cats. |

Choosing the best lighting for your kitchen should not focus on how fancy or novel the lighting fixture is. The key to the best lighting fixtures is to provide your kitchen with functionality and aesthetic appeal. The lights with easy upkeep and maintenance are what I would recommend.
Modern kitchen lighting are suitable for kitchens that are very spacious but it should still add the element of elegance and simplicity to your interiors. Track lighting is an alternative choice for the modern kitchen. If you choose traditional lighting it should be more subtle and provide that homey ambiance in your kitchen. Fluorescent bulbs although very traditional is still a popular and common choice for lighting in some kitchens.
You can get the latest kitchen lighting ideas by doing some research on the internet. Home improvement websites as well as online interior decorating magazines offer the best ideas for kitchen lighting that I have ever seen. You can also visit a showroom and for all you know you may pick up a lighting design or two. |

A few tips for you to use when you plan on shower remodel concepts
1. Before you think of embarking on shower remodeling plans, think of the ways to increase storage space in the shower. There should be enough places for your medicinal boxes and closets as well, plus more room space inside the shower areas.

My 1986 Toyota had a sun roof that was rusted and leaking around its edges. Eventually I had an auto body place cover it over so that it didn’t look like a sun roof any longer, but after a few years it began to rust again along the outline of the former sun roof.
At the time, I was working on hardwood flooring in my home, and I had to go to the hardware store for some items. There, I spotted some waterproof roofing paint and suddenly had an idea. On the way home I went to the beach near where I live and filled a bucket with sand and some sea shells. I painted the roof, and while it was wet I put the sand on it and glued some seashells over that with clear silicone. Sure enough, the leaking stopped. However, by then I was “hooked” and every morning before it got too hot, I was out there gluing on more seashells and spray painting the gray car with blue and green paint to look like the sea. As my friends and neighbors saw what I was doing, they began to give me all kinds of seashells and fish magnets for the job. People began staring and photographing the car as I drove it around and eventually it wound up on the internet as the seashell car. After almost two years of gluing, the entire car was covered in seashells and fish. One day as I pulled into a supermarket parking spot, a man came out of the store, looked at the car and said to me, “Lady, did you just drive out of the sea?” Then I knew I had done a really good job. |

I, with a lot of confidence, can say that ants are the bane of my existence. The common household fly is nothing compared to the ant. I can deal with such flies using framed window fly screens - job done. But ants are too cunning for such simple measures. I wholeheartedly believe that a world without ants would be perfect and peaceful, unfortunately, that is not happening any time soon and so my home continues to be terrorized by these pests. I wouldn't have a problem with ants if they stayed in their place, but they have infested my home and I am considering charging them rent. I have to be careful and clean when it comes to having food in the house because the smallest amount of food will attract them. A grain of sugar on the counter top summons a whole colony of them, the pet food served on a bowl on the floor bring another colony and so on. My house is not safe and I believe that it will never be ant-free. I have tried many methods to get rid of these pesky creatures, but they have not worked. When they first became a problem, I went seeking for help on the Internet and from other victims, they offered a lot of helpful tips, but after a while they stopped working and the ants were immune to it. I tried drawing with soap around the pet food bowls and it worked at first, but later stopped working and I had to move on. That was my first attempt at getting rid of them and I felt hopeless. I went back to the Internet and many other netizens offered both helpful and outrageous tips, so I finally went out and purchased a substance that promised to get rid of any pests. Did it work? Yes and no. I have to apply the poison at least once a week, if not, they reappear and take over. Hopefully one day we can all end our ants problem and live happily ever after, but that day is so far away. |

As there is no end to the window treatments that one can have, we'll mention only a few of them here.
You may just hang the cotton, silk, lace, nylon and other fabrics. You may use curtain to cover a blind. They can also be used to cover the draw draperies of silk and velvet. For an added look hang the curtain of complementary color over the drape. Or you may just have draperies drawn alone on the decorative poles.
Making use of curtains in the above manner, gives your home a look different from the customary. There are many interesting accessories available. Choose some of these to get a heightened effect.
While planning for outdoor curtains keep in mind that their lengths play a very significant role in the whole scheme of things. For instance, longer fabrics give the room a more formal appearance, giving it a very dressy and classic look, whereas short lengths provide an informal and casual mood. For creating a romantic atmosphere incorporate curtains with paddles. They look startlingly elegant.
While sill length curtains are ideal for the kitchen, the family room should ideally contain a draw drapery of floor length. That should suffice to understand how the length of a curtain causes a visual change in the room where it's used. You would better bear that in mind while selecting a curtain.
Keeping the above things in mind allows you to make your place the way you always wished it to be. Such simple things go a long way in transforming your home to a more beautiful place to live in and give it totally renovated looks. So, feel free to try some of these tips and add to the feel and charm of your home. |

I want to redecorate and refurbish our bathroom but my husband is against the idea because he feels that it is such a waste of money. But I am not going to relent since I need to be inspired in the morning before going to work and I believe that taking a shower and fixing myself up in a pretty bathroom will do the trick for me. Just so I can convince my husband, I promised him that I will be working on a tight budget and that I will just be recycling and repainting some items. I also mentioned that I saw an online shop that offers discount bathroom vanities so I don’t need much money. I was thinking that with the right kind of vanity the aesthetic value of my restroom will definitely improve coupled with a few touch ups. I have yet to get my husband to agree with me but I can tell that after a few more prodding I could finally get his approval. |

Moving from place to place can be cumbersome, especially when you need to pack and go, then unpack and say. Wish we had a genie in a bottle or maybe Mary Poppins to do the job, but let's face it we don’t, but all hope isn’t lost, we now have movers.
Movers save the day, because they would at a nominal rate pack and load, and also bring your goods to the other destination in no time. They would come and inspect everything that needs to go with you and provide you with a free estimate for the inventory done.
It is when you given them a green signal for the job ahead, would the movers start the work or else you are not obliged to use them if you feel they don’t suit your relocation needs. But if you do, you would save a lot of money, time and your energy in the otherwise cumbersome decision of relocating. |

Antique copper saucepans, jam preserving pans and copper cauldrons are very attractive items and often extremely well made. Many antique copper items are hand made, beautifully crafted and are both decorative as well as practical and pragmatic, and make wonderful kitchenware items.
Some of the very old copper saucepans still available today are from famous coppersmiths such as 'Moresi & Lucca' and 'Boscacci & Moresi'. Many of these coppersmiths were working from workshops in and around London, at the end of the 19th and start of the 20th centuries.
Copper jam preserving pans are lovely items. They look great hanging up in the kitchen, especially when polished, and are extremely practical when it come to making jam and preserves. Everyday soft fruit, such as strawberries and even raspberries, are of course usually used for making jams and other spreads, but wonderful jams can be made from more unusual fruit, such as rhubarb and quince. |

I was browsing through different bathroom designs for days now because my husband finally agreed to my renovation plan. I really want to give our bathroom a make-over because I thought it would be nice if it will have a spa-like ambiance to it. There is nothing more enjoyable for me than going to a spa I love it when my whole body is soaked in milk or in water filled with rose petals with matching scented candles and relaxing music. However, frequently going to such kind of place is quite costly, so I thought why not enjoy the same pleasure at home. All I need to do is change the design of my bathroom and add a comfortable tub where I can have luxurious bubble or milk baths whenever I feel like it sans the expensive fee. I also plan on installing a simple sound system where classical or relaxing music can be played whenever I am having a bath. |

Replacing your window screens can be an intimidating and arduous task. But it’s actually a lot easier than it looks! Whether you need to change a broken window screen or you want to install a newer, more effective one, with these simple steps that serve as your guide to window screen replacement, you can enjoy your new window screen in no time at all!
The first thing you should do is to cut the replacement screen in the right size. Make sure to wear gloves while cutting up the screen! At this point, you should prepare the other tools you will need, like your screwdriver and your screen roller.
Next, remove the spline and the old screen fabric from its frame. Over the bare frame, lay the new screen you prepared and cut it so that it is just a little bit bigger than the frame. Remember to trim the corners off.
Then, with the use of your screen roller, put the new screen into the spline channel. When this is finished, put the spline back in place. This may stretch the fabric, but just trim off the excess. |

An outdoor fireplace is one of the most warming and romantic pieces you could have. It allows you to enjoy roasting some marshmallows with your kids or even cuddling up with that special someone in front of the fire. With an outdoor fireplace, you can say goodbye to cold nights out on the porch!
However, many will argue that having a mason install a fireplace is quite pricey. This argument couldn’t be more right! Still, you shouldn’t let that stop you from enjoying the many benefits of having an outdoor fireplace.

There are plenty of outdoor fireplace kits available online, and the best part is that they come at a very modest price! Coleman has become a household name because of its line of outdoor gear. They are known to be very well made, durable and reliable. But what most people don’t know is that this brand also comes up with products for the home, particularly for garage storage and organization.
After hearing about this, I decided to take advantage of the situation...I desperately needed to fix my garage and at the same time, I was tasked to write a product review. I decided to go for one of their garage storage products, particularly, their Coleman garage storage cabinets.
This two door cabinet features adjustable feet and a nice wooden finish, which I liked. Instead of looking industrial, it looked wonderful in my garage. I appreciated the adjustable feet because it could stand well, even on uneven floors. It was resistant to moisture, too. It had a depth of 50 cm, making it the perfect size for power tools and other equipment.
Overall, I was very pleased with the product. It really brought the durability and reliability of the Coleman brand into my garage. |

If people who buy shoe storage cabinets choose to buy one the same way they think when buying shoes, most shoe storage problems could be solved in an instant. We buy shoes thinking where we would be using them, how often, for what purpose and if they are durable and strong to withstand abuse. But most people buy shoe storage cabinets thinking about how it would go with their existing furniture and not about how many and what type of shoes they hold, where they will be kept, and how strong they are.
And just as you wouldn’t think of using your office shoes to go to the gym, your shoe storage cabinet should be one that could hold the type of shoes you have. It’s also easy to think that you can just take off your shoes right at your doorstep and leave them there without any second thought but you know you have to take care of them so they would last as long as possible. The best way to ensure that they do is to keep your shoes in the appropriate shoe storage cabinets. |

A Plumber is a person that is skilled and experience in the proper distribution of potable water inside an establishment. He is a tradesman that does his leaving through working with piping system inside or outside of a building. He installs, maintains and troubleshoots any piping issues. Before a plumber is allowed to work for any establishment he is mandated by the government to take up the licensor examination of the states. The written examination is often difficult that is the reason why not every plumber has a license to work. Before allowing a plumber to the work for you, ask for referral from previous work and if he has the license to do the job.
Beware! Most unscrupulous plumber is those who are unlicensed and would want to have a regular income. Unscrupulous plumber would deliberately leave loopholes into the piping system as to make you call for another plumbing job. To ensure that you pick the best plumber ask referral from friends and relatives who had been served by a plumber and was satisfied by the end result of their work. |
